Why Is My Stool Black

"District 13", good action film in the French

Notice: This review may contain spoilers
Now that DVD is released in the second part is a good time to talk about the movie "District 13" (Banlieue 13, 2004), produced by Luc Besson omni-present and that was the directorial debut of Pierre Morel, director of after "Revenge" and "From Paris With Love" and both also produced by Besson . The film was well received both commercially and critically. Here was released directly on DVD and in late 2007, but the wait was worth it.

Paris 2010: The unrest has led to build a wall around the District 13. There lives Leito (David Belle ), who wants their neighborhood clean of drugs and thus faces a mobster Taha (Bibi Naceri). After getting stopped, a police release puts Taha, gives Leito's sister and him imprisoned, and thus kills the police Leito. Six months later, police Capt. Damien Tomaso (Cyril Raffaelli ), after completing a mission to infiltrate, it is assigned a new job: retrieve and defuse a bomb that has been stolen in District 13. You will have to enlist the help of Leito.

The film works for many reasons. First its two stars, the (almost) unknown Cyril Raffaelli and David Belle . Raffaelli is an actor, martial arts expert, a specialist film and fight choreographer and his best known role was that of one of the villains of "Kiss of the Dragon" , which already showed his skills issues within Jet Li . For his part, David Belle , is best known as the creator of parkour, a discipline that could be defined as the move around the city overcome the obstacles that are put forward and that is showing the film.

Another fact in their favor is its short duration: 85 minutes counting the end credits. In addition, there are few characters in the film, so no time is wasted in unnecessary subplots and goes straight to the point. All these characters are male, except the sister of the protagonist, played by some ex- porn star Dany Verissimo . Your character even has a role in the plot, not used to the typical love story or anything like that and that is appreciated.

Your first half hour, which is presented to the players, it's just perfect, we first Leiter fleeing men Taha, climbing walls, leaping from building to building or slipping through balconies. Then we have the mission of Tomaso at the casino that allows shine to Cyril Raffaeli , while defeating a dozen villains.

Of course, after this first half hour, the film suffers a slight downturn and is missing a villain of greater importance, since Taha dies too soon and also at the hands of his henchmen. Moreover, the fight against the gigantic wrestler takes far less than desired, but hey are small defects that do not prevent "District 13" is a entrenidísima film, best action movies recent years, and over, made in the neighboring country. But of course, here we prefer to invest in productions such "Lope" , with a similar budget. Too bad that Luc Besson is not English!

Best : its initial half hour. Simply brilliant
worst : the absence of a greater entity
villain
